Welcome to Dr. Megan Knoell!

We are pleased to announce the addition of Dr. Megan Knoell to team Millbrook Equine!

Dr. Megan Knoell is a native of Goshen, NY who attended SUNY-ESF for environmental science and went on to graduate from at The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Knoell completed her internship year at Chaparral Veterinary Medical Center in Cave Creek, AZ. With special interests in managing geriatrics, general medicine, and integrative medicine; Dr Knoell has also received certifications in animal acupuncture and equine spinal medical manipulation (chiropractic) from The Chi Institute in Florida.

When she is not helping her client’s horses, Dr. Knoell can be found hiking with her dogs, kayaking, gardening, or riding her draft cross mare in the dressage ring or on the trails. She currently owns four horses of her own, soon to be five when a new Knabstrupper foal is introduced to the family in May of 2023.

We are pleased to be welcoming Dr. Knoell to Millbrook Equine. Her sought-after integrative medicine & general practice services will be available to our clients starting September 21, 2022. Give our office a call to schedule your horse’s appointment with Dr. Knoell!

Time to think about getting your horse ready for a healthy autumn!

  • While your vet may decide to recommend differently based on the individual needs of your horse, there are some common vaccinations that are typically administered in the fall.

  • Flu/Rhino is mandated and must be documented as having been administered within 6 months for any horse traveling to a recognized competition. It's highly recommended for any horse interacting with horses who have recently traveled to a different barn or location.

  • The Potomac Horse Fever booster is recommended in our area for any horse who was vaccinated before May of 2022. We've seen an increased number of PHF cases throughout the Hudson Valley this year so let's keep our horses protected.

  • West Nile Virus is something we vaccinate against especially if your horse will be traveling south this winter.

  • EEE and EWT boosters are also common this time of year.

Give our office a call to set up your herd's fall boosters & wellness check-ups. And don't forget that you can save on call fees when you haul-in!

Dr. Danielle Schilpp is transitioning this month to a full time position as an Examining Veterinarian for the New York Racing Association. She will still be available to Millbrook Equine on a case-by-case basis for sports medicine, sport horse rehabilitation, and to support the team for advanced procedures.

If you’re headed to the races at Belmont this season be sure to say hello!

We are pleased to be hosting the Future Equine Practitioners Weekend September 10-11 as part of our involvement with Cavalcade Education.
