New Independent Online Pharmacy Coming Soon!

Our new, independent online pharmacy will be launching soon. That means better pricing and faster service to get your horse what he needs. Stay tuned for more updates as we launch this exciting new initiative!

Don’t want to bother your vet after hours? Text the office! We’re excited to offer this to our clients so you can conveniently set up appointments, re-order your meds, or leave a message for your vet.

In order to help your herd stay healthy, our practice management software automatically sends vaccine reminder emails throughout the year. We understand that these might be redundant in many cases. If you would like to unsubscribe from these notifications please let us know by clicking here.

Temperatures are changing, which means your horse’s nutritional needs are shifting, too! As chillier temperatures roll into the Hudson Valley, now is a good time to consider your horse’s Vitamin E levels.

🌱Vitamin E functions as a biological antioxidant that maintains normal neuromuscular function in horses. Horses naturally obtain sufficient amounts of Vitamin E when they graze on lush green pastures for 8+ hours daily, which might not be realistic given your horse’s lifestyle or the changing seasons.

➖Vitamin E deficiencies can cause a variety of equine diseases including equine neuroaxonal dystrophy in young horses or equine degenerative myeloencephalopathy, and Vitamin E deficient myopathy or equine motor neuron disease in adult horses. It’s important to note that not all Vitamin E deficient horses will become symptomatic of these diseases, but they are easy to prevent with adequate supplementation.

➕There are a number of powdered and water-soluble supplements available to increase Vitamin E levels.

🩺 Be sure to chat with our team of vets to determine which one will be the most appropriate for your horse! A simple blood test is available to establish a baseline for your horse, too

While your vet may decide to recommend differently based on the individual needs of your horse, there are some common vaccinations that are typically administered this time of year.

  • Flu/Rhino is mandated and must be documented as having been administered within 6 months for any horse traveling to a recognized competition. It's highly recommended for any horse interacting with horses who have recently traveled to a different barn or location.

  • The Potomac Horse Fever booster is recommended in our area for any horse who was vaccinated before May of 2022. We've seen an increased number of PHF cases throughout the Hudson Valley this year so let's keep our horses protected.

  • West Nile Virus is something we vaccinate against especially if your horse will be traveling south this winter.

  • EEE and EWT boosters are also common this time of year.

This time of year is also a great time to get ahead on your horse’s oral health. Get in touch to schedule an oral exam or dental. And remember you can save on these appointments when you haul-in to our facility.

Our team is heading to Equine Affaire in Springfield, MA November 10-13. We have a fun few days planned including educational activities for adults and children, opportunities to interact with our veterinarians, and some exciting giveaways for horse enthusiasts. Be sure to stop by our booth if you’ll be there!

These giveaways will feature products from some of our favorite product companies, but we’d also like to use the opportunity to showcase YOU - our valued clients! If you have any farm swag, branded items, or horse-related products with your logo on it we’d love to add these to our giveaway buckets and promote your business!

If you would like to send branded items, please get in touch to let us know. You can drop items off at the office or mail them to us at 3967 Rte 44, Millbrook NY 12545.
